Review: The Opportunist by Tarryn Fisher

I'm so sad!!! She . . . And then he . . . And then that evil little twit! She (Olivia) goes through so much by the time the book is over! Caleb is a little turd for resurfacing after she has had that much time to try to get over him and move on! He is a little turd for making her do that for his stupid, mean, evil, hell of a wife wife Leah! I have a feeling that he just likes to torment her, because he appeared to have amnesia, and then she chooses to do what she did, but he is just a mean, British, good-looking, evil person person for . . . . AAAHHHHHHH!

Olivia and Caleb were college sweethearts, but, while they were in college, she didn't want to b one of those girls that were just a passing romance for him, and she wasn't. He even told his family that he wasn't going to take a job in London, because it would take him away from her. Then he chooses to do something that breaks their love, and then she does something to hurt him, then it all goes do from there. But, when Caleb resurfaces with amnesia, all she can do is keep him close, because, after four years, she still hasn't been able to get over him. But, sadly, two years after they broke up, he tries to move on, and starts dating somebody else. She knows that he is dating somebody else, but she loves him too much to let him go. But after her apartment is broken into, she gets the message, and moves to Texas with her best friend that she had in college. She then moves back to Florida, and you can probably imagine what happens next.

I really liked this book, because of how she knew what she was doing was stupid, but couldn't let him go because of how much she loves him. Even after how long it has been, she can't forget him, because he was her first love. And he can't forget her, either. He even does something that he probably knows is stupid, but he just can't forget about her. Though I wouldn't ever really want to be any of these characters because of how their emotions are toyed with, I found myself rooting for them, each individually, even when Caleb hurts her in college. All the characters make stupid, stupid, stupid decisions, but they all make those decisions out of love, and there is something in those decisions that I find incredibly heart-breaking. It was a fantastic book, and I am excited to read the next book, and see the rest of her story unfold.

Books Become Thought

When you read a book, sometimes you read it, then when you put the book down, you forget about what you just read. But sometimes you read a book, then when you put it down, you think about it for months after you finish reading it, like how I read Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout in November, and I'm still thinking about it in June, and I think that those are my favorite kind of books to read. Sometimes you can pick up a book that is a fun read, but you still think about that book a week after you finish it, and I think that once you think about it for more than a week, it becomes a thought that is constantly in your mind even if it's pushed to the back of your mind. Once it is in your head, it is there forever, and you can't get it out, and I think that the booms that are amazing and keep you thinking about it are the ones that deserve to be read, and in the present we become so focused on things like work, and school, that sometimes we forget to look at those good, amazing books, and read them, and I think that the real loss isn't for the book, it's for you. I think that every once in a while, people need to take time out of their busy schedual, and sit down, and crack open a book, even if it's a picture book. People need to realize how important booms are, and cherish them while you can. That's one of the reasons I like reading.
