The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Well, for starters, I had probably wanted to start reading this a year, year and a half ago, and, to put it simply, it wasn't worth the wait. It wasn't a terrible book, it just kind of felt like the characters weren't real, or that they were working and talking about things too quickly, and even though the dude Oliver was British, I find that I really fell in love with his character like I usually would. I have read Jennifer E. Smith's This is What Happy Looks Like, and the endings feel kind of the same; you don't really get any closure from the book like you would with a regular, fan-girl, freak out book like the Fault in Our Stars or something, though don't get me wrong, there were a few moments like that, but not enough to make it any better than what it was. It just wasn't all that appealing, because I love those moments when you absolutely freak out and scream and jump up and down in your seat moments. I think that that is one of my favorite parts about reading, is that you have those moments often enough for the book to stay exciting, and with the Statistical Probably of Love at First Sight, I didn't really have any of the exciting moments like that, and think that is what made it rating that it is. And, with both this book and This is What Happy Looks Like, it kind of explained more than it actually told the story, and was more in the past, like your telling a story inside of a story, than just that first, original story. It didn't really appeal to me, though I do really like contemporary a lot more. It just wasn't for me, to be honest, though it isn't to discourage you from reading it, because you may like it better than I do.

Review: Life of Pi by Yann Martel
Life of Pi by Yann Martel
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I read this for school and before we started reading it,I thought that it would be a bad book and that it would suck. I was very wrong.
Life of Pi is about a young teenager that leaves India with his family to find a new life in Canada. During their trip to Canada, a ship called the Tsimtsum (pronounced sim-sum) sinks and Pi is the only survivor. He gets thrown overboard and lands in a life boat with a 450 pound Bengal tiger. This is a story that is very descriptive and sometimes gruesome at parts, and even though it is fiction, you think that this really happened. That's how good Life of Pi is. Especially the way that the author sometimes inserts himself, when the adult Pi is telling Yann Martel his story. I really enjoyed the way that Martel wrote the story, and how he told about Pi's story. It was an phenomenal novel, and I really do encourage you to read this book if you haven't.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books, Music, and More
Hello, so this week the second week or so of NanoWrimo and a lot of us are starting to get up there word count wise and plot out our stories, which is nothing less than AWESOME. If you have not reached a certain point yet or, are not on track, do not worry. There is still plenty of time to get in some serious word count. The first week of Nanowrimo I couldn't really get into my story, and kept switching Ideas so I would be typing one story about a hundred words in and then switch to the next. So my only advice for this week is stick with it. I can guarantee you it will be worth it in the end. And after, or in case you have already finished a manuscript (edited and all) you can sign up and submit it here: http://www.swoonreads.com/submit-a-manuscript For a chance to win a 15,000 dollar book deal. http://www.swoonreads.com/ is an official sponsor of nanwrimo. So big thank you to them. :)

NaNoWriMo and Word Counts....
So NanoWrimo has just begun and people are already starting to get busy with writing. I just wanted to share a couple of things that may help distress or encourage those who are doing NanoWrimo this month.
1. Quick and dirty:
The first draft is not necessarily meant to be good. It is something that is meant for improvement and that will sort of give you a baseline fore your story. So that other better drafts can come from your first draft.
2. Quality not quantity.
It's true that the goal is to write about fifty thousand words or more by the end of November. And I suppose this relates to the bit above. But in the end it doesn't really matter about the word count if your novel sucks. It is better to have fewer words and have your novel be incredible than to have less words and have it suck.
3.Notes.
I was unable to really get a baseline for my novel going because I had signed up so late, but also because I had not taken note or allowed myself the time to really brainstorm and write down my ideas. So it is always a great idea to take a break, to take some notes gets your thoughts together before continuing.
4. Music.
It is always good to get inspired and be creative while writing. I find that music really, helps with this. Here are some songs that may be good for a boost of inspiration.
Born to Die-Lana Del Rey
Digital Rot-Tan Vampires
Wishing Well-The Airborne Toxic Event
Until We Bleed-Lykke Li
Armistice-Phoenix
Shake Me Down-Cage The Elephant
Oblivion-Bastille
Pompeii-Bastille
Dog Days Are Over- Florence+The Machine
Blue Jeans-Lana Del Rey
Fluorescent Adolescent-Arctic Monkeys
Peaches-In The Valley Below
Cough Syrup-Young The Giant
5. Books.
Each and every author has their own writing style. And voice. So it may be a good idea to grab some inspiration from other books. Do not copy or plagiarize. But practice writing with their style. See how you like it and see if it may be possible to incorporate a mixture of styles within your story.
6. Tweaks.
It may be necessary while writing to go back and read or fix paragraphs or word choices every once in while. In order to make the story continuously better. I find that I often have to stop and read through the sentences and paragraphs I've just written before going back and tweaking it. Sentence structures and wording are also vital to the story-line. Often times a couple of words have the power to make the story better or worse. Which in a way I suppose is why writing can be so hard most of the time.
7. Dictionary's.
I have said it before and I will say it again. Sometimes it is vital to have a dictionary lying around. Not only because of the diversity of words that could be used to make your story more interesting. But also, if there ever comes a time when spelling or grammar needs to be checked than it's good to have around.
8. Avoid the use of cliches while writing. It is often refreshing to see new or unused story ideas and back grounds. So be creative!
9.Avoid repeating sentences and wording.
10. Try not to over explain things. It is good to appeal to the five senses. Taste, Touch, Sight, Smell, and sound. Often times it is easy to over explain or examine things which can lead to a boring story structure. However appealing to the readers five senses is something that is vital. "How did it feel, smell, look, sound, taste, etc."
11. And finally if what your writing seems boring to you it is probably going to be boring to the reader as well. So it may be necessary to try and change up your writing every once in a while. Remember falling action, climax, falling action, and major plot points.

Review: It's Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han

WWWWHHHHAAAATTTTT TTTTHHHHEEEEE FFFUUUCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!
What even just happened?! She wasn't supposed to do that! Why would you do that to Conrad! CONRAD IS WAY BETTER THAN JEREMIAH!!!!!!!!!!!! JEREMIAH IS A DOUCHE BAG!!!!! WHAT THE FUCK!!!????? WHY WOULD YOU GIVE HIM THE NECKLACE BACK?! IT WAS A SYMBOL OF YOUR LOVE FOR EACH OTHER! AND HE WOULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN IT FOR YOU IF HE DIDN'T LOVE YOU, DUMBASS! HE WOULDN'T HAVE REMEMBERED THAT IF HE DIDN'T LOVE YOU! AND HE WOULDN'T HAVE SAID THAT HE THOUGHT YOUR SPECIALTY WAS COCOA IF HE DIDN'T LOVE YOU!!!! CONRAD FUCKING LOVES YOU! DON'T BE STUPID!
Okay. Now that I got that out of the way, I really liked this book, except for the fact that she chose fucking Jeremiah, even though Conrad is CLEARLY the better choice. I loved everything about this book, like the way that it felt like it had a mission. It was really freaking amazing, and I'm excited for the next book.
BUT I MEAN SERIOUSLY! JEREMIAH?! HE ISN'T EVEN THAT ATTRACTIVE, NOT COMPARED TO CONRAD. I thought that I liked Jeremiah better, but . . . . I was VERY wrong. I love Conrad. Simple as that. Conrad and Belly, FTW. That's it. I'd say read the book, but you know, based on the fangirling above, you should already know by now.

Top Ten Tuesday: Halloween Themed Novels
So this week, is Halloween and in honor of that I though it would, be cool to list the top ten books, movies, or music that either are the best Halloween themed or that may have a scene or two, in correspondence with the spooky 'Holiday.' :)
10. The Portrait of Dorian Grey-Oscar Wilde
The novel is primarily centered around Dorian Grey a young, handsome and successful man who's vain and arrogant ways lead to his eventual downfall. Throughout the a painting created for him begins to grow more and more grotesque depending on his sins of that day. Which leads the reader to believe that the paintings is in fact a reflection of his soul.
9. Frankenstein-Mary Shelly.
This book is one perfectly themed for Halloween.
It's creepy, mysterious, and even grotesque.
A portion of this book is dedicated to the workings of fictional scientists:Victor Frankenstein who has always been a bit unorthodox in his methods of madness.
8. The Phantom of the Opera-Gaston Leurox.
This book has been adapted numerous times, in the form of Movies, Opera, Ballets and even its music.
Like Mary Shelly's Frankenstein it is a Gothic novel centered around a Haunted French Opera house. It incorporates elements of terror, spookiness, and genuine curiosity.
7. Carrie-Stephen King.
Carrie, is centered around a young teenage outcast, who uses her powers, such as telekinesis against those who regularly torment and bully her at school. Which leads to an eventual disaster during prom night that results, in the loss of hundreds of lives.
6. The Shinning-Stephen Kind.
This novel also by Stephen King. Revolves primarily around Protagonist Jack Torrance who travels with his family to a hotel in order to be a caretaker there. There son Danny is able to see the terrible things that happened in the hotels past. Soon after, a terrible storm cuts off the power and isolates the hotel. Which is then haunted by terrible forces of evil. That leaves everyone in danger. The Shining was adapted into a successful film By Stanley Kubrick and released in 1980.
5. Dracula-Bram Stoker.
Dracula, is a Gothic novel centered around the fictional vampire of the same name. Throughout the book Dracula fights against a small band of men, in his attempt to move from Transylvania to England.
4. The legends of sleepy hollow-Washington Irving.
The Legends of Sleepy Hollow is actually a collection of short stories written by Irving.
The novel centers around the small haunted town of Sleepy Hollow (believed to be base off of Terry Town, New York)That becomes 'haunted' by a headless horsemen.
3. Sherlock Holmes- Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Sherlock Holmes is based on two primary characters:Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. A spunky, yet brilliant, detective and strict but caring doctor. This is on the list because of its Gothic attributes and spunky, yet almost unreal humor and investigations.
Here's an interesting fact. Arthur Conan Doyle wanted to kill off Mr. Holmes for real in the series but fans of the book expressed such outrage that he decided to add on more installments. There have been numerous book, to film and book to television adaptions. Perhaps some of the most famous, is the U.K. BBC series staring, primarily Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman staring as Sherlock Holmes, and John Watson. Another film adaption made before the popular series stars, Robert Downy Jr. As Sherlock, Jude Law as Watson and Rachel McAdam's as Irene Adler.
2.The Horror at Red Hook-H.P. Lovecraft.
This is a short story published in January of 1927. It's on the list for obvious reasons.
1. The Tell Tale Heart-Edgar Allen Poe
This comes in at number one on the list. Due to its ability to convince the reader that the narrator (who commits a murder) is in fact not insane. Even though he kills someone, chops them up into little pieces and then hides the dismembered body underneath the floor boards of his house. The narrator then begins to 'hear' the heart beating of the man he murdered possibly due to guilt. This story is utterly macabre as was Mr. Poe'specialty.

Review: The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I took it off my older sister's bookshelf, not really expecting to get into it so quickly, but WOW! I really enjoyed it! I hadn't really known what it was about, but I think that that's the best kind of book to read; if you've heard of it and you didn't really know what it was about, but you still wanted to read it. That's how I have found most of my favorite books, because I didn't really know what it was about, but I still wanted to read it, or because the cover looked cool. The one thing that I didn't like about this was how much she was insane over Conrad. Yes, we get it. You love Conrad, and Jeremiah is only your best friend. You don't have to tell us all the time. But, aside from that, I really liked it!
Anyway, I really liked how we went to the summer house in the first chapter, and I really liked the fact that Belly didn't call it the beach house but the summer house instead. I also liked how, when something happened that reminded her of another time at the summer house, she kind of flashed back to that moment that it reminded her of, and told us about what happened and what age she was when that it happened, like her first kiss. I liked that a lot. I found that I really liked Susannah, even though she wasn't really there the entire time, and usually I find people that are just mentioned a lot but are never in the scene are annoying but I actually really liked both Susannah and Laurel (Belly's mom). At first I thought that Belly's name was actually belly, like a stomach, but after she explained it to Cam, I had a moment of feeling stupid because I didn't think of it. It was a really phenomenal book, and I'm kind of sad that I hadn't read it sooner, because it has been sitting on my sisters bookshelf for a really long time.
I was really sad about what we learned about Susannah in the end, I had always thought that Conrad was just upset about his parents divorce, and I thought that was just it, but when we learned the actual truth, I felt really bad that I had thought that Conrad was being kind of whiny. But, his reason for being all pissy was totally legitimate.
At first I thought that I liked Conrad better, but then he was being mean and pissy for what seemed like no reason, so then I liked Jeremiah better, but the I learned that when Belly brought Taylor with her that summer, Jeremiah had totally focused on Taylor and acted totally cold to Belly, as if she wasn't there, so then it made me really dislike both Jeremiah and Taylor. And then we learned that Taylor (view spoiler)[liked Steven and actually kissed him, while she was dating Jeremiah (hide spoiler)] so I hated Taylor, and I still do. I still hate Taylor. But now I like Conrad, and it may seem like I'm being like the girls at school that go through guys, like, insanely fast, but I'm not. There is only two options and they are "fictional," as the normal people say, but you know, whatever. Jere just got really annoying after he went out with Taylor, and Conrad actually loves Belly, even though he never really says it. I just know. And, Conrad is actually way better looking than Jere, according to the descriptions in the book. But, yeah, there is my rant about Con and Jere. (=
I read this book in one sitting. It's one of those books that you don't want to put down, and it's only 276 pages, so it's not like it's a lot, and all that time consuming. It was really amazing, and I really suggest that you go buy it, or if you already have it and it has been sitting on your shelf for a while and you keep just pushing it off and see something that you want to read more, I suggest that you read this one next. It was, and is, rreeaallyy good!I would rate it probably 4.5 stars, but since you can't do that, I give it five stars. (=</["br"]></["br"]></["br"]></["br"]></["br"]></["br"]></["br"]></["br"]>

Review: Fire by Kristin Cashore
Fire by Kristin Cashore
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Oh my freaking God! I a freaking in love with this book! I think that it might have actually been better than Graceling! I freaking loved it! At first, with Archer, I thought that I was gonna want Fire and him to be together but, boy, was I freaking wrong! I changed my mind right after she met Brigan because I thought that he was cooler than Archer, but once we got to know him more, his level of awesomeness, like, broke the scale for awesomeness, he was that cool. My favorite parts of him and Fire together were when they were looking at the stars and talking or right towards the end of the major thing that happened, you know, towards the end of the book. Or at the end, when they were in the green house and she tells him that she is sad and he asks how he can make her not sad and she says that his kisses always make her feel better. I freaking loved this book because of all the action that keeps you hooked till the very end, and when you finish, you are left wanting more of the story. I love books that always leave me wanting more, because it really proves and shows how good the authors writing is and I just freaking love it. If I could give it more than five stars, I would. I encourage you to read it. You don't even have to have read Graceling to read this; it's an entirely different concept to the story, though if you do read Traveling, it may make a small small amount of more sense in one part of the book.
All in all, a FANTASTIC read. I really enjoyed it, and I hope that you pick it up.

Review: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
As it says in the book, "WHAT IS THIS LIFE ANYMORE?"! Why, John Green, do you have to be such a brilliant writer that writes tragedies!? It makes the tragedies even more tragic and even more beautiful. (view spoiler)[ I thought that it was gonna be Hazel that died, but NOOOO. It just had to be Augustus! (hide spoiler)]
What is amazing about this book is that it makes you cry for the characters, and what they go through. I can honestly say that this is the first book that I've read that made me cry for the characters losses. It is just such a beautiful story!
What is even more beautiful about this book is that the characters, i.e. Hazel, Augustus, Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster, Mr. and Mrs. Waters, are real. They have amazing depth and go through struggles that I can't even begin to imagine. It's just so beautiful. I know the I'm using the word beautiful a lot, but I don't know what else to describe the story as other than beautiful.
This story will grip you from the very first page, and keep you gripped until after the end of the story; I had to write this review a day after I finished it, just because I couldn't produce an actual thought other than AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH! WWWWHHHHYYYYYY! It's just so amazing, and I know that I say read this if you haven't in a lot of my reviews, but with this, didn't even hesitate; go now and read it and keep it and love it so much. You will most defiantly not be disappointed; there is hype for this book for a reason.

Review: Heist Society by Ally Carter
Heist Society by Ally Carter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Heist Society is very cool. It follows this young girl named Katarina, who wants to be out of the thieving and spying world. But, when her dad gets threatened by a menacing man named Arturo Taccone, she will do anything to stop him from hurting her dad. Including re-steal paintings from the best museum in London, the Henley. So she, her 16 year old billionaire friend W. W. Hale the Fifth, a tech genius Simon, her beautiful cousin Gabrielle, two quirky brothers that I forgot the names of.
Let me first just say that Hale is the freaking best person and I hope that Kat and Hale get together in book 2, but I also kinda hope that they don't because I liked the tension between them. The song that I think I would give this is Royals by Lorde. I liked how Kat's team has a little bit of everything; they've got the computer genius to take down the security, the two brothers that cause the distraction, the man that distracts the person they are trying to steal from, and the person that actually steals from him. I liked how Heist Society kept you interested and always asking the questions What's gonna happen? Are they gonna get caught? It was very interesting to read from the perspective of a thief, and I wouldn't mind reading more books from that point of view. The reason that I became interested in Heist Society is because I have recently become obsessed with the idea of art heist's and thieving and pickpocketing. It just seems so cool to me and really fun to see what they are planning and see if they pull off the job ok. It was a very interesting thing to read about, and I would love to read more books from that point of view, not just Ally Carter books.

OH. MY. GOD. I THINK I'M GOING TO DIE. I HAVE TO WAIT TILL NEXT SUMMER TO READ OPPOSITION?!!!!???!? JENNIFER, I THOUGHT THAT YOU LOVED YOUR FANS!!!!???! WHY WOULD YOU KILL US ALL LIKE THAT!!!!????????????? THANKS TO YOU, I'M GOING TO BE IN A BOOK SLUMP UNTIL OPPPOSITION COMES OUT, AND I GET MY HANDS ON IT.
OH MY GOD, I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO SAY BECAUSE IT IS KILLING ME INSIDE RIGHT NOW!!!
SPOLIER SECTION
What the hell?! why did Daemon go?! Why didn't Katy go with him!? And OMG, they got married! I can't believe that Daemon actually asked her! I love him even more for doing that! And who else knew that Beth was pregnant? When Dr. Roth said that Katy wasn't pregnant, I immediately thought that she was but then when I saw Beth, I knew that she was pregnant because of how tired she was and how Dawson was acting around her. And, why the fuck did Matthew do that?! He is such a dick! And, WHAT THE FUCK happened at the ending?! What does that even mean?! What does life even mean?! Why did Andrew and Ash have to die? Even though they did die, I think that that was such an honorable way to die, and not a pointless death, like Finnick's death was.
END SPOILER SECTION
What the Holy HELL!!??! I can't even process what is happening! It was so full of action, and suspense from the very first page. It had a totally different feel to it than the other books in the series, and I loved it (if you can't tell from my excessive fangirling), It keeps you hooked from the very first page, and is so full of suspense, there is never a dull moment. It was an AMAZING< FANTASTIC< EXCITING, WONDERFULL, AWESOME read, and if you haven't read it yet, I suggest you go and stop whatever you're doing and read it.

Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Crime Shows
1.) White Collar (available on Netflix)
I have recently become obsessed with White Collar because of the aspect of it. If you don't know what it is, it's a show about a guy that was a white collar criminal that got captured by the FBI, and then he strikes a deal with the head of the FBI's White Collar crime unit, Special Agent Peter Burke, that as long as he wears a tracking anklet, and helps with cases, he can spend the time that he was supposed to spend in prison (four years) helping catch guys that are like he was before jail. The main character, Neal Caffery, is played by Matt Bomer. I also know him as Cooper Anderson, Blain's older brother on Glee. And now, because of White Collar, I have become obsessed with the whole aspect of White Collar crimes and Heist' s and things like that. I even started reading Heist Society by Ally Carter because of it. It really is a show that should be watched. There are 3 seasons on Netflix.
2.) Burn Notice (available on Netflix) (one season left)
Burn Notice is about a spy named Michael Weston that was "burned." Throughout the series, he tries to find out who burned him while helping other people with their problems with people like drug lords and people that hurt other people they knew. I haven't seen the new season that's on Netflix, but I have seen the other episodes. The main character, Michael Weston, is played by Jeffrey Donovan. There are 6 seasons on Netflix.
3.) Bones (available on Netflix)
Bones is about a women named Temperance "Bones" Brennan that is a forensic anthropologist that is partners with FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth solve murder cases. It's full of hilarious wit and people that make up the cast that are in every episode, like the cast isn't just mainly focused on Booth and Brennan. Booth is Played by David Boreanaz and Brennan is played by Emily Deschanel There are 8 seasons on Netflix.
4.) Criminal Minds
Criminal Minds is a very dark crime show. It is based on the FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit crime team that solves murder and kidnapping cases all across the country. They focus a lot on profiling the unknown subject (unsub) rather than focusing on the crime itself. After they profile the unsub, that is what usually leads them to make the arrest on the criminal, and usually they catch the criminal in the middle of doing the crime. In the team, there is Chief Agent Aaron Hotchner (played by Thomas Gibson), Supervisory Special Agent Derek Morgan(played by Shemar Moore). Doctor Spencer Reid (played by Matthew Gray Gubler), Senior Supervisory Special Agent David Rossi (played by Joe Mantegna), Supervisory Special Agent Jennifer "JJ" Jareau (played by A. J. Cook), Supervisory Special Agent Emily Prentiss (played by Paget Brewster), and Technical Analyst Penelope Garcia (played by Kirsten Vangsness).
5.) Life (available on Netflix) (canceled)
Life is about a detective, named Charlie Crews, that was sent to prison for 12 years because he was framed for the murder of a family. Throughout the series, he tries to find out who framed him, and who was the actual killer. Charlie Crews is played by Damien Lewis. Both seasons are on Netflix.
6.) Numb3rs (available on Netflix) (canceled)
Numb3rs is a show about two brothers, one an FBI Special Agent and the other a genus mathematician that uses his math skills to help his brother solve crimes. Special Agent Don Eppes is played by Rob Morrow, and his brother Charlie Eppes (the genus) is played by David Krumholtz. All six seasons are on Netflix.
7.) Psych (available on Netflix)
Psych is a goofy crime drama that focuses on so-called psychic Shawn Spencer (played by James Roday) and his friend Burton "Gus" Guster (played by Dulé Hill). Shawn and Gus help SBPD solve crimes using Shawn's "psychic" abilities. There are 6 seasons on Netflix.
8.) Murder, She Wrote (available o Netflix) (canceled)
Murder, She Wrote is about an author that helps solve crimes then writes those crimes into her books. Author Jessica Fletcher is played by Angela Lansbury. All 12 seasons are on Netflix.
9.) NCIS
NCIS is a crime drama revolving around a fictional team of special agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, which conducts criminal investigations involving the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. The show stars Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Cote de Pablo, Pauley Perrette, Sean Murray, Brian Dietzen, Rocky Carroll, and David McCallum, currently. It is not on Netflix.
10.) White Collar (available on Netflix)
I know that I already put it on this list but it is so good!!!!!!! I seriously love it, and it makes you wonder if he is going to take the art or whatever is at stake in that episode. Each episode makes you have a mini heart attack every time Neal does something that goes against the rules of his agreement with the FBI. It makes you wonder, "Neal, how are you gonna get out?" every time. I love it so much!!! If you haven't seen it, you need to see it, right now!! Not to mention that Neal Caffery is really, REALLY good looking, it should be illegal to be that good looking. Again, the first three seasons are available on Netflix at the moment.

Review: I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga
I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Ok, so I had to hold off from doing a review for this book right after I was done with it, BECAUSE of the ending. The ending of this book pissed me off so freaking much!!!!! Why can't Jazz just have peace, just for once?! Why, oh why, Barry Lyga did you have to put him through what he went through as a kid (being the son of a serial killer isn't as cool as you would think, really), then, on top of what Jazz went through in THIS book/age (17), I'm really surprised that Jazz isn't crazy by now. I suppose we have Connie to thank for that.
Poor Jazz. All he freaking wants to do is live a normal life after his dad got arrested! Is that really to much to ask?!
SPOILER
I had a feeling that Foulton was the killer. I also thought that it was Weathers or Erikson. And why the hell would a person want to impersonate Billy's murders?! Though, I did think that the drain-o thing was very original, and an "Artistic" choice;)
END SPOILER
I thought that I Hunt Killers was very well thought out and very different from all the books that I've read, which I liked. I haven't ever really heard of any kind of books like this, and I really liked the aspect of it. I also liked that we got to see what Jazz was thinking, instead of just seeing him as an arrogant dude. I liked that we got to see his feelings, and his nightmares, and all of his thoughts towards his dad. I liked how Barry Lyga created and set up the murders; they were very original and I've never read about or heard of somebody being killed like that.
SPOILER
I was kinda surprised about how Howie acted towards the killer when they figured out who he was. Not that I can blame him. I mean, he did try to kill him. I also thought that it was kind funny when he (Jazz) threatened the paramedic, but then I remembered that he was the son of a serial killer, so . . . yeah. :/
END SPOILER
I really liked this novel, and recommend it to anyone who likes mystery and crime and drama and young adult and any mix of the three. I also want to thank polandbananasBOOKS for talking about this book and getting me interested in reading it. It was an amazing read and it keeps you in suspense the ENTIRE time. I really, HIGHLY recommend I Hunt Killers.

Top Ten Tuesday: Book Boyfriends
Sorry I didn't have this up yesterday, my internet was crapping out.
1) Daemon Black (Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout)
1) Daemon Black (Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout)
He is awesome. He is snarky and sarcastic and thoughtful and sweet and so so beautiful. When we first met him, he was shirtless, so bonus points for him there. He was rude to Katy at first because he was trying to protect her, because he liked "ever since you first flipped me off" (the first time they met on his front porch)(shirtless, I may add). I'm pretty sure that he has won over the hearts of all the people that have read about him, and I'm sure that he will continue to woo the hearts of all the people who have yet to meet him.
2) Po (Graceling by Kristin Cashore)
We first met Po in the court yard of a king that had kidnapped his grandfather; Po was looking for him. Katsa first ran into him while she was trying to clear the courtyard of the guards so that she and her secret team called The Council could save him. He then realizes that Katsa had taken his grandfather back to her Uncle's castle. He kind of reminds me of Jace from The Mortal Instruments because of the way that he acts. Po is snarky-ish and seems very laid-back for a Prince. He is very loyal, and I think that's why I like him so much.
3)Jace Wayland/Lightwood/Morgenstern/Herondale (The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare)
Ok, I'm pretty sure that this list would nit be complete without mention of Jace Wayland/Lightwood/Morgenstern/ Herondale. If you have ever met him you know why he is on this list. What is his last name, anyway? Even if he is Herondale, is he a Lightwood because he was raised with Alec and Izzy? Or is he still a Herondale? Anyway, Jace is pretty freaking awesome, not to mention a badass fighter! And he looks good in black clothes, so there's that. He has a very big ego, much like Daemon Black listed above. Jace is sarcastic, and I LOVE the amount of one-liners that he comes up with.
4) Sky (One Night With a Rock Star by Chana Keefer)
Sky seems like he would be really fun to be around. We first met Sky when Esther sunk backstage at one of his concerts. Later on in the story, we get to see how much fun they have together, and I think that it would be cool to experience (most of) what she experienced. Sky is funny, very witty, romantic, sarcastic, and he seems very experienced with the world. I think that it would be fun to read from his point of view, just to see what he sees, and what he feels about Esther. Even though I'm rooting for Esther and Sky, I'm happy that she did what she did, because it made her seem strong.
5) Dean Winchester (Supernatural)
Ok, I know that this is a list about book boyfriends, but I'm making an exception with Dean. If ou've watched Supernatural, you would know why. I feel so bad for Den because he never gets a break. I'm on the fourth season on Netflix, and even already, Dean has had so many bad things happen to him. I think that it's really funny when he tries to hit on somebody, then they shoot him down. It's also kinda sad because he gets this really sad look on his face. Jensen Ackles is such a good actor! He is really good at crying! He is really funny, but then again he is also really serious. And I pretty much hate Sam at the moment.
6) Caleb (The Opportunist by Tarryn Fisher)
This one is kind of strange. I hate him and love him at the same time. Hate him because of what he put Olivia through, but I love him for what he did with Olivia, if that makes any sense. I hate him because he cheated on her, them got pissed at her for doing the same thing. He was all like, "You're gonna die regretting what you did today," and I'm all like, "YOU ARE TOO!!!!!!!!!" I hate it when book characters are so moody (that statement was kind hypocritical, because this is pretty much a list of moody people, but he is more moody than all of them). I love him, also, because the fact that he faked what happened to him, just so that he could fix things with Olivia, and I thought that was really cute.
7) Akiva (Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor)
Ok, again this one is kinda strange. I love him because of how mysterious and dark he is, then again I hate him because of what he did to Karou's family and to Karou. And, I love him because he went into the human world, found her, and kept her close. But then again, I hate him because he just dropped to his knees and started crying without giving us an explanation until way later (it probably wasn't that much later, but still). I just, I, I don't know.
8) Maxon (The Selection by Kiera Cass)
I didn't like him that much in The Elite, but in The Selection, he was really sweet and caring and just plain out awesome. In The Elite, I didn't like him as much, because of the way that he changed from how he was in the first book compared to the second. In The Selection, he was really sweet, and cared about how America (the girl) was feeling, and cared about why she was sad, but in The Elite, is seemed like he kind of just pushed that part of him away, and wasn't as caring as he was in the first book.
9) Four (Divergent by Veronica Roth)
I like Four, not Tobias. Four is way more badass and pushes Tris way more than Tobias does, and think that that is really something special, because in a lot of books, you tend to see more of the man always protecting his girl, and I think in this, Four treats Tris more as an equal, then a damsal, where as, Tobias treats Tris as a damsal. Four seems very male, and protective yet, at the same time, he treats her like she can hold her own, and I think that is important.
10) Percy Jackson (Percy Jackson and the Olympians)
I'm pretty sure that Percy Jackson is on everybody's list, if you have read the PJO books. He actually was my first book boyfriend, and PJO was the series that got me into reading. Percy is really witty, and it's just really fun to read from his POV because he realizes things that I wouldn't necessarily see and he makes a lot of funny remarks about those things that are pointed out. It's also really funny the amount of snide comments that he makes, and the amount of one-liners that just come out of his mouth, and you don't really see them coming. I think that it's just really fun.
That's all for my list today. (=
Top Ten Tuesday: Beginnings/Endings in Books
I just saw YA Sisterhood do this post and I thought I'd do it too. Here is the link to YA Sisterhood' s post: http://ya-sisterhood.blogspot.com/2013/07/top-ten-tuesday-beginningsendings-in.html
1) Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout.
This had probably one of the worst cliffhanger endings in the world. I love how Daemon realized what was happening, and what he said. *internally swoons*
2) The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan
I loved how, at the end, it all raps up nicely, but Rachel still says the prophecy, leaving a window open for The Lost Hero.
3) One Night With a Rock Star by Chana Keefer
I love the beginning-ish part were she meets Sky, because what happens in the beginning leads to what happens in the limo, and at her house. I love how she was not afraid to voice her opinions and voice what she stands for. And I LOVE how Sky acted towards her, and what happened on the stage both before and during the concert.
4) Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
I loved, at the end, how we are told by Akiva about what he did, and how I didn't see it coming. You may have seen it coming, but I didn't. And I loved the world building, and how we got to see her in her past life.
5) Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
I like how at the beginning how we learn about what the Dark Sisters are doing to Tessa and how there is so much excitement in the house, and how we met Will.
6) Under The Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
I like right at the beginning, there is excitement. In some books that I've read, there is excitement from the end of the beginning of the book, if that makes sense. I like how the first chapter of Perry is spoken like he is a man, and how Veronica actually makes him sound like a protective man in a man's body, and not like a women in a man's body.
7) Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Shirtless Daemon. 'Nough said.
8) The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
I like at the end how she rebelled against the Capitol with the berries, and how knows that she is rebelling and stupid about what she is doing, like how some female leads act stupid, when I know the author can make them smarter than they act.
9) Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
OMFG, THE END! "Katniss, there is no more Distric 12." End of Book Two.
And OMFG, THE CAPITOL! POOR PEETA!!!!! Stupid Capitol!!
And and OMFG, FINNICK ODAR!!!!! Sexy, sexy Odar!! I love you, Finnick!!
10) The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa
Poor Ash! He loves her so much, and her stupid destiny got in the way! I loved how he took the risk of letting his heart get hurt again, and gave it his best! I also loved how he was so willing to go with her into the Iron Relm, knowing the risk to himself. And, the ending was so sad, it broke my heart for both of them! She was so brave to do that for him!

New Origin Teaser from Jennifer L. Armentrout
You can view the entire blog post here:
http://www.jenniferarmentrout.com/sunday-origin-teaserupdate/
“You have no idea…” I ran out of words at that point. Her being this close after so long was the sweetest kind of torture. Each breath she took, I felt in every part of my body, in some areas more than others. Really inappropriate, but she always had a powerful hold over me. Common sense jumped out the window.”

Judging a Book By Its Cover
They say not to judge a book by it's cover, but, in my experience, judging a book by it's cover has proven to be a good thing for me. I bought One Night With a Rock Star BECAUSE of the cover.
I hadn't heard anything about it, and I hadn't even read the reviews about it on Goodreads. I just bought it and started reading it. And it was REALLY good.
I had heard a little bit about Daughter of Smoke and Bone, but not that much. I saw the cover and decided that I wanted to read it.

I usually decide to read a book based on their COVERS. All that stuff about judging a book by it's cover is total BS. It's the publisher's job to create the covers, and when the covers are appealing to me, I usually buy them, just to see how good the book is.
I had read ONE SHORT review of The Oppurtunist and decided to read it AFTER I saw the cover.
In my opinion, you should judge a book by it's cover, because the cover is what interests the reader first. If you're a publisher, make an interesting book cover, and it will attract more readers.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Trailer!!
http://movies.yahoo.com/video/hunger-games-catching-fire-trailer-211105191.html
OMG, THE CATCHING FIRE TRAILER IS HERE, AND HAS WAY BETTER EFFECTS THAN THE HUNGER GAMES! GO WATCH IT, OMG, IT LOOKS SO COOL!!! IT IS AWESOME!
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is such an amazing trailer! I thought that they were gonna screw up, and make the special effects look fake (like in The Hunger Games), but the effects are way better! It looks so cool! If I hadn't read the book, and hadn't planned on seeing it anyway, after seeing the trailer, I would have planned on seeing it, it's that good! Of course, I planned on seeing it, anyway. It comes out two days before my birthday, which is pretty much an early birthday present from the creators of the movie, to me! It looks so cool, you should go watch it, and plan on seeing it! It looks fantastic, and OMG THE WEDDING DRESS! IT WAS SUCH A COOL TRANSFORMATION, AND IT LOOKED REAL! GO WATCH THE TRAILER!

Origin Teasers from Jennifer L. Armentrout
These are all the Orgin teasers released from Jennifer L. Armentrout's fourth book in the Lux Series.
The shadow pulled away, moving forward quickly. My first instinct screamed Arum and to push away from it. I reached blindly for the obsidian necklace, realizing too late I didn’t have it anymore.
“You’re still having nightmares,” the shadow said.
At the sound of the familiar voice, fear gave way to rage so potent that it tasted like a battery acid. I was on my feet before I knew it.
“Blake,” I spat.
There probably will be one or two more teasers for Origin, but these are all the ones that are released as of July 18, 2013.
Review: One Night With a Rock Star by Chana Keefer
One Night With a Rock Star by Chana Keefer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
OMG, THE FEELS! I DON'T THINK THAT I CAN WAIT TILL 2015! I NEED MORE SSSSSSSKKKKKKKYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, now that I mostly got that out, damn it all to heck! Why, Sky, oh why would you do that?!
This is pretty much my reaction to the book. All. Throughout. The. Book.
I AM GOING TO GO CRAZY!
One Night With a Rock Star is an epic tale of meeting someone who you have dreamt about for a while, then falling in love with them, then having them ripped away for you. But, as you try to move on, you keep seeing them in everything that you do. It is a truly, truly wonderful book! It is wonderfully written, and even though this probably won't happen in real life, you can find that you relate to the main character, because her feelings for Sky are real feelings that normal people have and it just makes you want to root for them to be together. In the end everything is explained about why he did what he did and I think that that is a good things for novels to have. I am going to go cry now, because after you finish the book on Kindle, there is a glimpse into the second book, and now I am terrified of what is going to happen, and I feel so bad for both Esther and Sky, and I'm just caught in a wave full of FEELS! OH. MY. GOD. I AM GOING TO DIE. Someday, I will be found dead in my bedroom, and the cause of my death will be too much stress on my heart from it always skipping a beat when something exciting happens in books. WAY TO GO AUTHORS FOR KILLING ME!! If you have not read it, I am tell you to stop what you are doing, go to Amazon.com and buy One Night With a Rock Star. And, it's free. Go do it. You WILL NOT regret it!

Review: Graceling by Kristin Cashore
CONTAINS SPOILERS
Goodreads Preview:
His eyes, Katsa had never seen such eyes. One was silver, and the other, gold. They glowed in his sun-darkened face, uneven, and strange. She was surprised that they hadn't shone in the darkness of their first meeting. They didn't seem human....
Then he raised his eyebrows a hair, and his mouth shifted into the hint of a smirk. He nodded at her, just barely, and it released her from her spell.
Cocky, she thought. Cocky and arrogant, this one, and that was all there was to make of him. Whatever game he was playing, if he expected her to join him he would be disappointed.
In a world where people born with an extreme skill—called a Grace—are feared and exploited, Katsa carries the burden of the skill even she despises: the Grace of killing. She lives under the command of her uncle Randa, King of the Middluns, and is expected to execute his dirty work, punishing and torturing anyone who displeases him.
When she first meets Prince Po, who is Graced with combat skills, Katsa has no hint of how her life is about to change.
She never expects to become Po's friend.
She never expects to learn a new truth about her own Grace—or about a terrible secret that lies hidden far away...a secret that could destroy all seven kingdoms with words alone.

My Reaction:
AAAAAHHHHHH! Katsa and Po . . . . Then he's bloody . . . . Then he . . . . I'M SO SAD!!!!! Po is pretty much number two on my book boyfriends list right now, and I'm so sad and, like, in a book slump now because I can't start another book, because then I would feel like I'm cheating on that book or something. I always feel like that after I finish a book that I really like. Po is freaking amazing, and I feel so bad for Katsa because Po is so selfless when it comes to her and Bitterblue! He is . . . So perfect. . . and good looking. That never hurts. I can't believe that he ended up blind because of his fall! I didn't see that coming. Like, at ALL! I wasn't really surprised that he could read minds if the person was thinking about him. Kristin left a lot of hints about what his real Grace was, but I think she did that on purpose. Kristin knows what she is doing! This is the perfect debut novel, and I can't wait to read more of her books, and, though I consider it to be a standalone, I wouldn't mind reading Fire and Bitterblue. Such an amazing debut!! And the idea is totally original, which I admire a lot! I like how at the beginning, Katsa seems totally not human and doesn't really show any feeling other than irritation, but then as we read more, Katsa starts to feel more human. I also liked how the beginning of the book entertaining, because the beginning of the book always has to be strong and fun for me to read if I'm gonna read the rest of the books. It was an amazing story, and it was an amazing debut! Well done, Kristin Cashore!

Things I Like About Book Reviews
One thing that I like to read when I read about book reviews, is that I like to see why the person likes or dislikes the book, like if the reviewer TELLS me what they liked and disliked about that book. Example with Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout: d the entire book, except for the character Blake and all his faulty actions. If they give an example like I just did (and that was legit), then they make me want to know what those actions are. Another thing that I like about book reviews is if the reviewer uses pictures or gifs to add emphasis on what they are trying to get across to you. Another thing with the gifs is that if they are of something that I know of, like a Supernatural gif, with Sam and Dean. It just makes more sense to me, because I know what was going on at the time of that episode, or what was happening in that moment. The minor things that I look for in a review is if they gives examples of w they can relate to the story. I know that sometimes I do that, and, to me, it shows that the story was relatable, rather than just saying that it. I know that sometimes it's hard to relate to characters that are, say, aliens, but if they act like they are humans, like Daemon and Dee Black do, it easy to relate to their emotions. Those are some of the things that I look for in a book review.

Review: The Elite by Kiera Cass
Let me just start off saying that I started reading this on the way to school on the bus, and when I got home I read it until 8:00 and finished it. That's how good it was. It kept me on the edge of my bed and I had to stay up till 10 doing my homework because I had put it off. I didn't like Maxon at some parts *cough* Celeste *cough* I thought that at some parts of the book after something happened to Marlee, America was really careless and reckless but I am just happy that she didn't get caught in the act of something stupid. As always, I hated Aspen, but that is a thing that I think all the reads of the book go through. I was really surprised at how it turned out in the end, with the amazing cliff hanger ending, and I love all the maids and how they stood up for all the things that America has done. Celeste was my least favorite part of the book, just because she is Celeste, and a mean person. I mean really, how mean can she get?! All in all, I thought that it was eloquently written and an amazing second book.

Review: The Opportunist by Tarryn Fisher
I'm so sad!!! She . . . And then he . . . And then that evil little twit! She (Olivia) goes through so much by the time the book is over! Caleb is a little turd for resurfacing after she has had that much time to try to get over him and move on! He is a little turd for making her do that for his stupid, mean, evil, hell of a wife wife Leah! I have a feeling that he just likes to torment her, because he appeared to have amnesia, and then she chooses to do what she did, but he is just a mean, British, good-looking, evil person person for . . . . AAAHHHHHHH!
Olivia and Caleb were college sweethearts, but, while they were in college, she didn't want to b one of those girls that were just a passing romance for him, and she wasn't. He even told his family that he wasn't going to take a job in London, because it would take him away from her. Then he chooses to do something that breaks their love, and then she does something to hurt him, then it all goes do from there. But, when Caleb resurfaces with amnesia, all she can do is keep him close, because, after four years, she still hasn't been able to get over him. But, sadly, two years after they broke up, he tries to move on, and starts dating somebody else. She knows that he is dating somebody else, but she loves him too much to let him go. But after her apartment is broken into, she gets the message, and moves to Texas with her best friend that she had in college. She then moves back to Florida, and you can probably imagine what happens next.
I really liked this book, because of how she knew what she was doing was stupid, but couldn't let him go because of how much she loves him. Even after how long it has been, she can't forget him, because he was her first love. And he can't forget her, either. He even does something that he probably knows is stupid, but he just can't forget about her. Though I wouldn't ever really want to be any of these characters because of how their emotions are toyed with, I found myself rooting for them, each individually, even when Caleb hurts her in college. All the characters make stupid, stupid, stupid decisions, but they all make those decisions out of love, and there is something in those decisions that I find incredibly heart-breaking. It was a fantastic book, and I am excited to read the next book, and see the rest of her story unfold.

Books Become Thought
When you read a book, sometimes you read it, then when you put the book down, you forget about what you just read. But sometimes you read a book, then when you put it down, you think about it for months after you finish reading it, like how I read Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout in November, and I'm still thinking about it in June, and I think that those are my favorite kind of books to read. Sometimes you can pick up a book that is a fun read, but you still think about that book a week after you finish it, and I think that once you think about it for more than a week, it becomes a thought that is constantly in your mind even if it's pushed to the back of your mind. Once it is in your head, it is there forever, and you can't get it out, and I think that the booms that are amazing and keep you thinking about it are the ones that deserve to be read, and in the present we become so focused on things like work, and school, that sometimes we forget to look at those good, amazing books, and read them, and I think that the real loss isn't for the book, it's for you. I think that every once in a while, people need to take time out of their busy schedual, and sit down, and crack open a book, even if it's a picture book. People need to realize how important booms are, and cherish them while you can. That's one of the reasons I like reading.
